Introduction to WIPL/ISSF Shooting at MDRGC
This match event has been created to introduce Mission members to our WIPL/ISSF League and match format.
What is WIPL? WIPL is the Western International Pistol League – a league of shooters across multiple clubs currently within BC that organize and shoot Olympic-type Bullseye pistol matches for training and competition. These matches follow ISSF rules – see the attached file for more info on these rules. WIPL currently has a membership of over 50 members shooting at six ranges throughout BC.
(Note: Participation in WIPL events and membership in BCTSA or SFC can potentially lead to the future acquisition of a 22 cal pistol suitable for ISSF shooting. This will be discussed further at the event.)
This event registration will be open to Mission members for up to one week prior to the event (i.e. July 19) – then we will also open it up to other NEW WIPL members needing an intro session from other clubs. If the match is still not full – we will open it up to existing WIPL members. (To these WIPL members, please recognize that much time will be spent on instruction during this match).
Event start time: 10 am match start time
(Please arrive at least 20 minutes early or your spot may be given to a waitlisted shooter)
Price: Price for this event is $10 – payment to be made at the match. Cash only.
Limited spots = 15 participants maximum
(A waitlist will be provided) If you register and cannot attend – please cancel or notify planning@lrgc.com ASAP. Failure to cancel early may have later repercussions.
Registration: Online registration is required. Please provide all info requested or we may not be able to maintain a spot for you.
Note: WIPL Membership is not required to attend if you are a MDRGC member.
Equipment: WIPL matches involve 22 cal and/or CF pistol calibers. This event will involve two matches:
1) a Standard Pistol match using only a 22 cal pistol, and
2) a Centre-fire/Sport Pistol match using either a CF pistol or 22 cal pistol respectively. These matches follow ISSF rules (for more info - please see the attached file).
NOTE: The Standard Pistol match requires a firearm capable of firing 5 rounds in 10 seconds.
Pistols: This intro match is open to those with or without their own pistols as we will provide shooters with a 22 cal target pistol suitable for shooting these matches if needed - based on availability and priority registration. It is our intention to provide all shooters with a suitable firearm if needed. Revolvers or semi-autos are acceptable. We currently have numerous target pistols available. Please advise if you need a pistol to attend during registration.
Ammo: Minimum round count requirements for matches: (bring at least 20% more to account for malfunctions – be sure what you bring works in your gun! Try it BEFORE attending!)
Standard pistol: 60 match rounds + 5 sighter rounds = 65 minimum
CF/Sport Pistol: 60 match rounds + 10 sighter rounds = 70 minimum
If you are in need of a pistol for this match – then 22 cal ammo will be provided with the firearm at a total cost of $30 for both matches. As some pistols require specific ammo – bringing your own ammo to use in the loaner guns is not being permitted.
Targets: WIPL purchases targets in bulk and sells them to its members at cost. For this match, all targets will be provided.
Note: Please bring eye and ear protection. Many WIPL shooters will use a spotting scope or small binoculars to see their target hits at 20 yds. This is certainly not required (or provided) but is allowed. If you bring a scope – arrive earlier to allow time to setup.
