This event:

A special introductory session of Speed Plate shooting at the LRGC on July 16 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

If you are a rifle or pistol shooter - or intend to be - and prefer to do more than just shoot paper targets, then Speed Plate shooting should interest you!

Speed Plate (SP): shooting multiple hanging polymer targets (usually 5) on a stage as defined by the stage description. Similar to Speed Steel (SS) - but as steel shooting is not allowed inside the indoor range - we use polymer targets instead.

Check out the short video loop here - sound on!  Speed Plate Shooting video

Example - shoot four targets of various sizes in a defined order - shooting the 5th one (usually black) last to complete the stage and stop the clock. If you hit all 5 during your relay, then your time is your score for that relay.  Time penalties are added if you miss targets or don't follow proper procedures (i.e. 5 sec per missed target/3 sec per procedural penalty).

You will shoot each stage 6 times (i.e. 6 relays) - recording the time to complete the stage after each relay.  A typical SP session is shooting four stages - i.e. 24 relays - minimum round count is 125 rounds.  The slowest relay time for each stage will be eliminated and the total time for each stage added to get your match time.

Typical equipment: 22 cal (or CF Pistol) or 22 rifle with enough magazines to hold at least 30 rounds minimum - preferably 60 rounds if for a pistol (however reloading by a friend is allowed).  (Note: No damaging hollow-point ammo allowed.)

Ok - so this invitation is to allow any shooter to come and try Speed Plate.  All equipment will be provided. We will set you up to shoot a couple stages (up to 12 relays - either 22 cal pistol or rifle) so you can experience this fun activity.

The cost - to cover the range session fee and 22 cal ammo while providing various firearms to try - is only one punch on any LRGC shoot card (more than a great deal!) or pay $8.50 online.

If you don't have a shoot card - please pay online. Otherwise, you can just select: "Invoice me" and punch your card at the range on the day. Guests are allowed but with an additional $20 day fee.

Bring your own eye and ear protection if you prefer to do so. If you want to shoot more - ammo will be available for sale for $10/50 rounds.

Note:  A NEW SHOOTER INDOOR RANGE ORIENTATION is not required to participate in this event. A PAL is also not required to participate in this event.

So here is your chance to try it - but you must register online and show up!!!

To register for this event - go to the website calendar, find the scheduled date and click the Speed Plate event. Follow the instructions.
