Attention LRGC IDPA Oct 22 Intro Participants:

Note: This session is a repeat of the IDPA Intro Follow-up Training Session held several times previously. Attendance at one of the introductory sessions is a requirement for registering and attending subsequent LRGC/IDPA training sessions. Priority to attending will be given to those participants of the Oct 22 IDPA Intro course. An invite has been sent to these participants.

Shooters that have already attended an IDPA Intro Follow-up Training session previously should not attend unless space remains available within two days of the session.  Contact planning@lrgc.com to be put on a wait list if interested.

Activity: "Competition Defensive Pistol Shooting" (rules by the International Defensive Pistol Association - IDPA, which can be found at this link: IDPA Rulebook).

In this competitive shooting sport, we shoot targets in priority order and from cover (when available) and possibly even while moving. Ammo available to hit the required targets will be limited (this isn't Hollywood) and you will have to carry and reload as you go.  Note that this is a speed/timed event where you will try to shoot all the targets as fast as possible with time penalties for lack of shooting accuracy and/or missed targets.

This session will reinforce the rules of IDPA competition shooting and provide some examples of IDPA shooting activities.  We will do more shooting than in the first Intro session so be sure to bring enough ammo and preferably also a holster.

Please REGISTER on-line in advance and SHOW-UP if you do!  (Log-in, then go to date on website calendar and click on event to register).  Note that a code is required to register - look in your invite for this code.

Requirements: (must be 18 years and have RPAL for pistol.)

1) A centre-fire (CF) pistol is typically required for IDPA events, however we will allow 22 cal rimfire pistols for our sessions if you do not have a CF pistol. (Please do not bring a firearm that you have not shot before.  This is not the place to test it or familiarize yourself with it. ) (Note: Any type of sights are ok - please bring a holster if you have one or can borrow one.

2) Must have a minimum of (3) magazines (4 is better) with preferably at least a double magazine holder on a belt (or bring clothing with big pockets!)

3) All personal safety gear (eye + ear protection - note that electronic ones are HIGHLY recommended)

4) Sufficient ammo that WORKS in your gun!! Be sure and try the ammo in your firearm BEFORE you attend.  This is NOT the place to TEST it.  Bring a minimum of 150 rounds the first session - more may be required per session in the future.  Don't forget your mag loader!

Note: You will need a MINIMUM of 31 rounds per setup x 4 stations (expected) = 124 rounds x a "miss/jam" factor of 1.2 = about 150 rounds. (You can always take it home - but you can't get more - so I always bring extra.)  This type of shooting DOES eat up a lot of ammo so be aware! Please come prepared.

5) Fee for this session is $15 or two member shoot card punches in the range.

YOU MUST REGISTER ONLINE FOR THIS EVENT.  MEMBERS must sign in to register and may pay online or by shoot card.  Non-members can register as guests online or pay at the event. Contact planning@lrgc.com with any questions.  An additional non-member day/insurance fee ($20) is required so total will be $35.

We will not be discussing aspects of the rules and equipment as that was covered previously. This session will predominantly focus on shooting skills development.

Important!  If you cannot attend - after you have registered - you must cancel and/or contact planning@lrgc.com at least two days prior to the event to allow time to contact any wait-listed shooters, or your name will be recorded and may reduce your ability to register for future dates.  We want to be sure to accommodate as many shooters as possible, and that wait-listed shooter might be you next time!

Hope to see you at the session!
